Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Janet Rosen attended the Brooklyn Museum Art School until moving to San Francisco in 1974. She graduated with her BS in Nursing from the University of San Francisco in 1981. While still attending USF, she learned to sew at the Sewing Workshop and studied patternmaking with Simone Sethna. Her paintings have been featured at galleries, cafes and corporate spaces around northern California since 1990 and she was a longtime participant in San Francisco Open Studios. She began training in aikido in 1996 and has been a contributing writer/editor to Aikiweb's "the Mirror" column since 2004. Janet decided to bring together her love for design and fabric and her devotion to aikido in 2001, designing a baby gi and offering custom weapons bags. She maintains her studio at her current home in Mendocino County, sharing it with her husband, jazz maven Stuart Kremsky, and two cats. She works part time as a nurse case manager for a local nonprofit agency serving frail low income seniors, and trains at Ukiah Aikido. SELECTED ART EXHIBITIONS | ||||
