Janet Rosen started training in aikido in 1996.
In 2001, she developed the pattern for a baby gi and started refining her weapons bags. She designs and sews all of the
custom weapons bags and the baby gi top and pants for sale on Zanshin Art at her home studio in northern California. In 2008 she introduced a new line of premade bags, still made one at a time at home, called NISHOKU because each bag pairs a solid fabric with a print.

Following a severe knee injury in 2000, Janet began a research project gathering data on knee injuries in aikido.

She has been a part of the aikido-l community since 1997, and has been a collaborating writer and editor on Aikiweb's "The Mirror" column. You will find a selection of her writings on aikido on the essays page of Zanshin Art. She also writes on martial and visual arts at her Zanshin Art blog.
